Weddings are a defining chapter in a couples’ story. The photographs from this day should reflect the emotion, anticipation, excitement, and joy, as well as the essence of who the couple is together. Tom’s unobtrusive style creates a relaxed, fun, and stress-free atmosphere that puts couples at ease, allowing them to focus on what’s most important—each other. Blending candid, photojournalistic shots with classic formals, Tom documents the day organically, as it unfolds.
Photography has been a lifelong passion for Tom, starting from the moment he picked up a camera. As a bored kid during parties in his parents’ backyard, he had come to develop awareness, noticing moments of human interaction and expression that typically go unnoticed. At nine years old, when his parents gave him the job of taking pictures at an annual charity event, he found that things got a lot more interesting. His passion grew and evolved into a career that would take him all over the world.
After receiving his B.A. in Digital Photography from The Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California, Tom went on to work under several prominent photographers. Honing his technical skills, becoming more exposed to a wide range of photographic environments, Tom garnered the invaluable experience that would blend to create his unique artistic style.
Options are a tremendous consideration when it comes to wedding photographs; these are the images that will be shared with family, friends, and reflected on for the rest of the couples’ lives. Tom strives to offer the widest variety of formats possible and to deliver them in as many options for print or web as the couple desires. Through his commitment to staying on top of digital photography’s ever-changing technology and trends, he is able to provide this signature service.
Tom’s goal is to have a bride and groom come away with the wedding photographs of their dreams and always to surpass expectations.
Tom lives in Berkeley, California and maintains a studio presence in Southern California. When not behind a camera, he can usually be found on his bike in the surrounding hills or at Monterey Market. To view more of Tom’s work, please visit tomkinsonphoto.com.
